A free science fiction and fantasy convention is returning for its third year and will be held at North DeKalb Mall this weekend.

The Atlanta Science Fiction and Fantasy Expo will be held March 11 and 12 and will feature panels, workshops, gaming tournaments, a dealer’s room and a “Peachy Maid Cafe.” There’s no cost to attend.

“For the third year, the Atlanta Sci-Fi and Fantasy Expo will celebrate pop culture creators with a family-friendly event at DeKalb’s North DeKalb Mall,” the event website says. “Artists, writers, actors, game designers, animators, modelers, costumers and fans will gather to share their craft, instruct and inspire others to explore their own fannish interests.”

There are over 70 confirmed guests, including animators, authors, cosplayers and even a pastor who is also a devoted comic book fan. Panel topics include “The African Origins of Superheroes,” “Religion, Fandom and Modern Mythology,” “Cosplay in Non-Cannon Bodies,” and “Doctor Who: What’s on the Horizon.”
