No good deed goes unpunished, and for one man that punishment included losing his car.

Decatur Police responded to the call in the 400 block of West Ponce de Leon at 3:25 a.m. Monday morning.

According to the police, the man was at a gas station at Peachtree Street in Atlanta early Monday morning. He was approached by an unknown man asking for a ride to Ponce de Leon Avenue. The victim offered to give the man a ride. When they got into the city of Decatur, the victim stopped his car to check and see if he had a flat tire. When he got out of the car, the stranger he’d picked up jumped into the driver’s seat and drove off headed east on West Ponce de Leon.

“The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 6’2”, slender build with a shaved head, with tattoos on his face and both forearms and wearing dark clothing,” Police Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “The stolen vehicle was a blue 2017 Hyundai Elantra displaying GA tag CGA3361.”
