The Avondale Estates 4th of July Celebration will return once again to commemorate Independence Day.

One of Avondale’s “proudest and most exciting traditions, attracting hundreds of families and friends,” the celebration will include its traditional morning parade down Clarendon Avenue, followed by fireworks over the lake at dusk, according to an Avondale Estates press release.

The city is asking residents to help make the celebration better.

“It doesn’t happen without the effort and enthusiasm of many community members,” the press release said.

Among the ways residents can contribute is by donating. According to the release, the city relies on donations and sales of T-shirts and yard signs, which will be available soon, to fund the event.

Business sponsorships are also wanted. The sponsorships come in three monetary levels, the lowest being $50 and the highest being $150. There are several perks to sponsorship, the release said, which can be viewed here.

Lastly, the city invites residents to join the parade.

“Dress up in your most creative 4th attire and strut your stuff down Clarendon Avenue,” the release said. “Have an antique or muscle car? Come on out and show your 4th of July spirit! Enjoy building floats and want to test your creative limits? Show us what you got!”

The parade will line up around 9:15 a.m, start at 10 a.m. and finish around 11 a.m. It will start at Avondale High School parking lot, proceed north on Clarendon Ave., and finish at Clarendon Avenue and South Avondale Road, according to their website.

To make a monetary donation, please make a check payable to the City of Avondale Estates, with the notation “4th of July Parade” in the memo section of the check. For more information about donating, contact Karen Holmes or Keri Stevens via email. [email protected], [email protected]
