You could be the next sculptor to participate in the Decatur Artway project.
As part of the ongoing Decatur Artway public art initiative, the Decatur Arts Alliance is looking for sculptures to be placed within walking distance of downtown Decatur, according to a DAA press release. They are seeking artists for their third phase of sculptures, which will feature five sculptures across the downtown area as part of a rotating outdoor sculpture gallery.

Once the sculptures are installed, the Arts Alliance will host a special Gallery Opening with a walking tour of the sculptures and an artist talk by the selected artists at their specific sculpture.
Phase 1 of the Decatur Artway began in 2015 with five temporary sculptures scattered across Decatur. The project continued with Phase 2 in 2016 with the placement of five more sculptures in Oakhurst, the press release said. The new sculptures will be on display in downtown Decatur from October 2017 until September 2019.
The sculptures are on display for two years and are “easily accessible to hundreds of people each month who come to Decatur to shop, dine, work, or attend the year-round calendar of events and festivals,” the release said.
In addition, the art and artists are featured on the Otocast App. Selected artists will receive an honorarium of $2,000, and some artwork may be available for sale.
For the upcoming round of sculptures, the Arts Alliance is still accepting submissions. All submissions should be professionally constructed of durable materials that can withstand weather conditions. All durable outdoor media are encouraged.
The deadline for submission is July 15, and a judging panel will make the selection of sculptures in August.
Applications can be submitted through callforentry.com (CaFE). For information visit the Decatur Arts Alliance website.
