Decatur School Board will consider approving budget, setting tentative millage rate

The Decatur School Board has its regular meeting on June 13 and will consider approving a $66.1 million general fund budget.

The board will also consider setting a tentative millage rate of 18.66 mills, which is the current millage rate.

Board members will meet starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at City Schools of Decatur’s central office, located at 125 Electric Avenue. All meetings are open to the public.

Highlights of this year’s budget include:

– Projected revenues of $59.9  million, with the school system using $6.2 million in reserves to balance the budget.

– 30.21 additional employees to keep up with the school system’s growth

– A 2.5 percent step increase and a 2 percent cost of living adjustment in pay for employees

– A $41.3 million capital projects budget, $37.1 million of which will go to construction projects
