The city of Decatur says a contractor working on the North McDonough streetscape project severed a gas line around 1 p.m.

The road is closed as crews work to repair the line.

“Alternate routes are required,” the announcement from the city says. “The CSX rail line can still be crossed using East Trinity Place/Candler Street or Atlanta Avenue.”
