2017 elections: Two candidates in Decatur submit qualifying papers

Qualifying for local elections began in Decatur and Avondale Estates on Monday, Aug. 21.

No one submitted qualifying papers for Avondale Estates, City Manager Clai Brown reported. The city of Decatur said two candidates qualified on Monday.

They are:

– Patti Garrett, incumbent and current mayor of the city of Decatur, for City Commission District 2 Post A.

– Tim Martin for Decatur City Commission District 1, Post A.

Qualifying in Decatur ends on Aug. 23 and qualifying in Avondale Estates ends on Aug. 25. The election is Nov. 7 and early voting begins on Oct. 16.
