Decatur BBQ Festival kicks off this Friday night with live music

This year, the Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass Festival will kickoff on Friday night, Aug. 11, starting at 5:30 p.m. with live music at five Oakhurst Village restaurants.

The band lineup is as follows:

Oak Brew – Josh Byrd

Scout – The Joe Palese Trio

Steinbeck’s – Franklin Hamilton School

On Saturday, Aug. 12, the festival will last from 2 to 9 p.m. The music lineup for Saturday is:

Sovereign Systems Stage
2:30 – 3:15 Porch Bottom Boys
3:30 – 4:30 Donna Hopkins Band
4:45 – 5:45 Grizzly Goat
6:15 – 7:15 Beverly Guitar Watkins

Tabasco Main Stage
3:00 – 3:45 Greg Humphreys Electric Trio
4:15 – 5:00 Vista String Band
5:30 – 6:30 The Georgia Flood
7:30 – 8:45 Farewell Angelina

There will be a kids area, per usual, with face paint, corn hole, and Atlanta Braves activities.

As for bringing pets go, a recent press release advised, “for the safety and comfort of festival goers, owners are discouraged but not forbidden from bringing their four-legged family members.”

Beer, barbeque and frozen treats from various vendors will be served at the festival.

For festival expenses, credit is accepted but cash is encouraged. Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Community Center of South Decatur.

Tickets are $15 until day-of purchase, which will be $20. Children 12 and under get in free.
