DeKalb Bomb Squad responds to ‘hoax device’ on Memorial Drive

Readers reported seeing numerous police vehicles and the county bomb squad off Memorial Drive on Thursday morning.

Details about what happened were scarce, but a DeKalb Police spokesperson said they were responding to a call of a “hoax device” at American Tire Lube & Automotive on Memorial.

“No one was in danger,” the spokesperson said. “DeKalb Homeland Unit is investigating.”

An employee who answered the phone at at American Tire declined to comment.
