Topstitch Studio and Lounge opens in Decatur
Topstitch Studio and Lounge, a fabric and sewing shop, has opened its doors at 722 West College Ave. in Decatur.
The business offers, “modern apparel fabrics, indie garment patterns, tools, trunk shows, craft nights, movie nights and [an] after school craft club,” according to its Facebook page.
[adsanity id=36760 align=aligncenter /]Owner Leigh Metcalf told Decaturish via email, “I’ll also have open sewing Sundays, where people can rent time on sewing machines by the hour.”
“For morning classes, I plan to get Revolution donuts for attendees,” said. “For evening classes, I plan to get the black eyed pea hummus platter from the Imperial. And evening classes will be BYOB or W. (I won’t be serving the beverages, but they are allowed to bring it if they pay for it, bring and pour it for themselves.)”
Metcalf said she’s lived in London for the last six years and produced a book: “London Stitch and Knit: A Craft Lover’s Guide to London’s Fabric, Knitting and Haberdashery Shops.”
“Part of my concept for this shop is to bring together wonderful supplies from around the world,” Metcalf said. “I’ll have items from the UK, France, Spain, New Zealand, Canada to name a few.”
