Come out on Sept. 30 for AES Runs the World race to support the Avondale Elementary School Education Foundation.

All of the money raised will fund “technology and other assets needed to provide a top-notch education and ensure every student has the resources to thrive.”

The race starts at 8 a.m. at Avondale Elementary, and is projected to end around 10 a.m. at the school. The race is routed along Avondale’s neighborhood streets.

Early registration for the 5K lasts until Sept. 12. The fee for early registration is $25 for adults and $15 for participants 12 or younger. After the 12th, registration fees will increase and participants will not get a tee shirt from the race. Additionally, you can register online until Sept. 27 by clicking here.

Same-day registration is an option, too.

According to a recent press release, “at Avondale Elementary, 95 percent of students qualify [for free and reduced-price lunch].”

“The majority of our families are struggling financially and cannot afford extras like field trips, technology and after-school activities,” Avondale Elementary School Education Foundation Board Chair Keith Sagers said in the press release. “We need private investment to ensure our students have the support they need to be successful.”

In addition to raising money for the school, there will be a food drive for the Atlanta Community Food Bank at the race. You will be entered into a drawing for a $100 grocery gift card if you bring one can of food to the drive.

Correction: An earlier version of this article confused the press conference about the Sunday march with the march itself. This story has been updated with the correct information.
