Local grant awarded to improve Tucker green space

Friends of Tucker Recreation and the DeKalb County Master Gardener Extension volunteers’ collaboration have been awarded a Park Pride Small Change Grant.
The grant is for $2,500 and DeKalb County Commissioner Nancy Jester is using her park bond funds to provide a $2,500 match for a total award of $5,000.
According to a recent press release, “the mission of the collaboration . . . is to partner with local government and community members to preserve, promote and enrich the Tucker Recreation Center and adjacent green space as a valued local resource for arts, sports, recreation and education.”
This grant is going to fund a disability-accessible pathway through the Butterfly Garden as well as build two more informational kiosks to educate the public about the garden and the Trees of Tucker garden.
