Teenage cyclist OK after being hit on Ponce de Leon

Decatur Police say a teenager was hit by a vehicle early Thursday morning but he survived the incident with minor injuries.

Lt. Jennifer Ross said police responded to the incident at 7:53 a.m.

“The cyclist, who is 15-years-old, was traveling westbound on East Ponce de Leon Avenue at Church Street,” Ross said. “The driver was traveling eastbound on East Ponce de Leon Avenue attempting to turn left onto Church Street and struck the cyclist. The driver was cited for failure to yield while turning left. The cyclist had minor scrapes on his knees and a parent picked him up from the scene.”
