Five Decatur restaurants teaming up to support diabetes research
Kelly Thompson, whose 7-year-old son has type 1 diabetes, wants people to know they’ll have an opportunity to support diabetes research on Nov. 14.
In recognition of World Diabetes Day, five Decatur restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds to JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research research, on behalf of Charlie’s Angels.
“Charlie Thompson is in second grade at Westchester Elementary in Decatur and has been living with T1D for almost five years,” his mom said. “His fundraising team, Charlie’s Angels, works to raise money for JDRF and awareness about T1D. To date, Westchester and the Decatur community have helped Charlie’s Angels raise more than $35,000 for T1D research.”
