Oak Brewpub has been open for several months, but the company officially marked its grand opening on Nov. 1.

A spokesperson said the restaurant held off on an official grand opening due to a change in brewers.

“They have eight of their own [beers] on tap and needed at least 6 to open,” the spokesperson said. “They now have their license to sell growlers too.”

The owner and chef is Daniel McKinney who has worked in the culinary arts for 20 years.

“After nearly two years of scouting locations, he decided on Oakhurst Village based on the friendly small neighborhood atmosphere who welcomed full advantage of the new Georgia Brewpub laws,” the press release from the company says. “In addition to a new take on traditional brewpub fair, the house beers prove to be unique to Georgia. The promise of a light, dark, and IPA type beer will be on tap at all times. There will also be the incentive for guests to create their own personal beers to go hand in hand with the large event space built specifically for Oak Brewpub. With a large patio, a front porch featuring rocking chairs, gliders and outdoor projection TV, Oak Brewpub intends on being  host to any type of event imaginable.”

The restaurant is “children and dog friendly.” There will be brewery tours starting in 2018.
