You’ve had months to decide. It’s time to vote, assuming you haven’t voted early.
Tuesday, Nov. 7, is Election Day for local cities including Decatur, Avondale Estates, Tucker and Atlanta. Polls will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. To see your polling place and look up a sample ballot click here to visit the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.

Voters in all of DeKalb County will be asked to approve a 1 cent special purpose local option sales tax to raise $636,762,352 for infrastructure improvements, and an “equalized homestead option sales tax” to use 100 percent of the homestead option sales to give residents a tax break, with most of the benefit of that going to city residents. The Secretary of State says people who wish to vote must meet the following requirements:Georgia law (O.C.G.A § 21-2-417) requires Georgia residents to show photo identification when voting in person.
You are not required to provide identification when you vote absentee by mail.
WHAT IDS ARE ACCEPTABLE?
- Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a free ID Card issued by your county registrar’s office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS)
- A Georgia Driver’s License, even if expired
- Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state
- Valid U.S. passport ID
- Valid U.S. military photo ID
- Valid tribal photo ID
