Decatur Police: Driver who ran red light on East Ponce caused accident

Decatur Police on Friday responded to an accident at the intersection of East Ponce de Leon Avenue and Commerce Drive that sent three people to the hospital.
Lt. Jennifer Ross said the accident was caused when a driver ran a red light on East Ponce de Leon.
“Driver No. 1 was traveling westbound in the 400 block of East Ponce de Leon Avenue approaching Commerce Drive,” Ross said. “Driver No. 2 was traveling northbound in the 500 block of Commerce Drive approaching East Ponce de Leon Avenue. Driver No. 1 failed to obey the red light and was struck by Driver No. 2. Driver No. 2 complained of chest pain and Driver No. 1 and a passenger complained of chest and head pain. All three were transported to area hospitals for examination. Driver No. 1 was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.”
