At the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, City Schools of Decatur will go from a system of K-3 elementary schools with a 4-5 academy to a system of K-2 elementary schools and two 3-5 academies.

CSD will soon begin work on a new 3-5 school at Talley Street which is expected to be finished by the start of the 2019 school year.

The new school at Talley Street is prompting a reexamination of CSD’s elementary attendance boundaries. CSD’s Elementary Boundary Planning Steering Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 6:30 p.m to 8:30 p.m. at the Decatur High School cafeteria, located at 310 North McDonough Street.

“This engagement session will be an opportunity for community members to participate in a facilitated discussion to provide valuable feedback to the Board of Education,” the announcement from CSD says. “In addition, the committee will post an online survey to solicit further input after the meeting.”
