During the day on Tuesday, Jan. 30, and Wednesday, Jan. 31, the Georgia Department of Transportation will close one of the I-285 eastbound lanes for the Flat Shoals bridge project.

The bridge work is part of a project that will reconstruct the interchange at I-285 and Flat Shoals Road.

The project includes:

  • Construction of a new bridge along SR 155 over I-285

  • Construction of two through lanes and bike lanes in each direction

  • Construction of dual, left-turn lanes from SR 155 (northbound/southbound) onto I-285 (eastbound/westbound)

  • Widening of interstate exit ramps to provide dual left and right turn lanes onto SR 155

  • Construction of noise walls under the Panthersville Road Bridge at I-285

The I-285 lane will be closed between I-20 and Bouldercrest Road on both days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., assuming weather cooperates.

According to a recent press release, “motorists are advised to expect delays and use signed detours, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones.”
