Big changes are coming to the shopping center on East Lake Drive behind Oakhurst Market.
The Shumacher Group, a real estate broker, announced the closing of a deal to sell the Oak Brewpub to the team behind Argosy gastropub in East Atlanta Village.
The company said, “Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, Inc. has sold the Oak Brewpub today. The Oak Brewpub is located in heart of Oakhurst Village at Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group, Inc. represented Seller in the transaction and assisted buyers in getting to closing. New owners Armondo Celentano, Donald Durant, and Benjamin Rhoades, the team behind the highly acclaimed and successful ARGOSY in East Atlanta Village, have exciting plans for a new concept.”
Argosy declined to comment at this time, but indicated an official announcement would occur soon.
The Oak Brewpub has been a bit of a mystery in Decatur. The restaurant closed in November within days of its grand opening.
General Manager Drew Gillespie said at the time the ownership was being transferred, but he didn’t know when it would reopen.
Decaturish also obtained this brochure marketing the Dollar Tree space in Oakhurst for lease, casting doubt on the store’s future in Oakhurst. According to the brochure, the shopping center has 135 parking spaces and the store itself has about 10,063.80 square feet of space available. The store used to be a Family Dollar until it reopened as a Dollar Tree in 2015. Dollar Tree announced in July 2014 that it will buy the Family Dollar stores, an $8.5 billion deal that gave the company control of 13,000 stores around the country.
The real estate agent marketing the property, Jamie Hargather, said Dollar Tree plans to move out by the end of the first quarter of this year. He doesn’t know if the company plans to relocate within Decatur.
Decaturish left a message with Dollar Tree seeking comment.
