Louisiana Bistreaux opened in East Point in 2015 and opened a second location at Suburban Plaza in greater Decatur in 2016. The proprietor is Fred Delawalla.
Delawalla, a graduate of Georgia Tech, began opening restaurants in the 1970’s with the Steak & Ale group. He started the Bennigan’s concept in Atlanta and opened 25 more across the US. He went on to open Malone’s restaurants and Simon’s Seafood Grill where Delawalla met Chef Paul Prudhomme who was promoting his first cookbook, “Louisiana Kitchen.” It was that happenstance meeting that flourished into a teaching relationship. Prudhomme invited Delawalla to his K-Paul’s restaurant in New Orleans to learn the art of Cajun cooking.
Delawalla said he supports local journalism because, “As a business, we like to reinvest in the community to make sure it remains strong. Journalism is a part of our support we like to provide for the community.”
Delawalla added, “Our employees and management team remain committed to our guests, providing service with a smile and excellent food. We are thankful for the community support.”
