Decatur Police have announced the arrest of Royce Stewart, the man accused of committing a double murder in Decatur on Sunday morning, March 25.
“On March 26, 2018, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit arrested 36 year-old Royce Stewart, a suspect in the murder of a female juvenile and an adult male yesterday in Decatur,” the Police Department announced. “DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office investigators apprehended the suspect without incident in an area near Mercer Woods Subdivision in southeast DeKalb County. Officers from the Decatur Police Department, the DeKalb County Police Department, the DeKalb County Marshals’ Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the U.S. Marshals Service assisted in the apprehension of the suspect. Royce Stewart is IN CUSTODY at this time.”
Earlier in the day police confirmed that a car stolen from the crime scene had been recovered.

Two people were found murdered at Trinity Walk apartments Sunday morning. One victim was 14-year-Renfroe Middle School student Shykia Ward-Reese. Another victim, a male, has not yet been identified pending a notification of family.
Trinity Walk apartments are located at 421 West Trinity Place and are owned by the Decatur Housing Authority.
Police went to the apartments on Sunday, March 25, at 9:35 a.m., in response to a call about a person stabbed.
“”Upon arrival, Decatur Police found two deceased persons inside the residence,” the Police Department said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Decatur Police Criminal Investigations Division with the case.
