Decatur Police are offering a free personal safety and self defense workshop for children and teens on Saturday, April 28.

“In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Decatur Police Department has partnered with Revved Up Kids and the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy to co-host a Community Safety event featuring FREE Personal Safety & Self-Defense Workshops for children and teens this Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Decatur Recreation Center,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “There are workshops for K-5th (Co-ed), 6th-8th (Co-ed and Teen Girls Only (11-years-old and up). Please register for the workshops at www.revvedupkids.org/class- calendar.

Partners for the event include Decatur Active Living, Decatur Fire and Rescue, Decatur Prevention Initiative, Gathered and Grounded, Partnership Against Domestic Violence, the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office, the DeKalb County Office of Solicitor General, the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, GUIDE Inc., WATCH D.O.G.S., CHRIS 180, Family Ties Inc., Morning Glory Family and Children Services and Marsy’s Law for Georgia.
