Atlanta Gas Light says dozens of homes in Medlock Park have been without gas since Wednesday due to a water main break that damaged a gas main.

The company says repairs will take two-to-three days.

“On Wednesday, April 18, Atlanta Gas Light experienced an outage on its system affecting natural gas service to approximately [87] customers in the Medlock Park neighborhood in Decatur,” a company spokesperson said. “The outage occurred as a result of a water main break that damaged a gas main, resulting in water entering the gas system. For safety purposes, our field service representatives have turned off gas service to homes and businesses in the affected area as repairs are being made. The restoration process, which includes repairing the gas main break, removing water from the gas lines and visiting each affected home and business to restore service, is estimated to take 2-3 days.  We are working as safely and swiftly as possible to restore gas service.”

Affected customers include residents on Wineleas Road, Eastway Road, Wendan Drive and Sanford Road.
