Decatur Police are looking for two suspects accused of robbing a man outside the Decatur MARTA station early Monday morning.

“On Monday, April 16, 2018 at approximately 1:55 a.m., Decatur Police responded to East Court Square in reference to the report of a robbery,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “The victim stated he exited the MARTA train tunnel onto Swanton Way while using his cell phone when he was approached by two males who asked him for change. He indicated he had no change to provide and walked up to the square toward the gazebo to wait for a friend to pick him up.

“The same two males then approached him from behind and told him to ‘give it up.’  One of the males positioned himself in front of the victim and struck him in the right side of his face with a closed fist as the victim tried to run from the suspects. One of the suspects made a gesture with his hand inside of his coat pocket making it appear as though he had a firearm in his pocket. The second suspect then removed $4 in single bills and a MARTA monthly breeze card from the front pocket of the victim.  The victim was then told to run and he ran toward East Court Square and called 911. Thanks victim was not physically injured.”

Ross provided the following descriptions of the suspects:

Suspect #1: Black male in his 30’s, approximately 5’06” and 200 lbs., unkempt hair, moustache and beard, with a strong, foul body odor, wearing a dark jacket with patches on the chest (possibly Saints or Raiders logo) and jeans.

Suspect #2: Black male in his 30’s, approximately 6’03” and 170 lbs, with a mustache and beard, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head and jeans.
