Decatur Fourth of July celebration to include yearly Pied Piper parade, open to communityPhoto from Decatur Business Association
The Fourth of July holiday will be here before we know it, and Decatur is ready to celebrate.
This year’s celebration will feature the yearly Pied Piper parade, which runs all the way through downtown Decatur. As always, the whole community is invited to bike, walk or skate in the parade, and neighborhoods and organizations are encouraged to make floats, too.
Parade lineup is at 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave. Pedestrians will gather on the lawn, and vehicles will be lined up by volunteers in the parking lot.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. The concert on the square starts at 7 p.m. in the community bandstand, featuring the Callanwolde Concert Band. And, of course, fireworks begin at dark (approximately 9 p.m.).
Anyone may participate in the parade, but those with vehicles must register by calling 678-553-6573 or emailing Shirley.email@example.com.
