Beginning today, June 25, a section of the Arabia Mountain PATH trail will close to repair and install a new sewer main, according to a DeKalb County press release.

The trail will be closed between mile marker 5.0 at the North Goddard Road crossing and mile marker 5.80 at the Flatrock Spur crossing.  The trail is scheduled to reopen in early July, the release said.

As part of DeKalb County’s $1.345 billion Capital Improvement Program, the Department of Watershed Management is assessing and repairing lines to improve sewer service and reduce sanitary sewer overflows. Repairs on the Arabia Mountain trail include replacing a deteriorated small sewer line with a newer and larger pipe.

Detour and trail closure signs will be visible at trailheads and throughout the park to notify bikers and pedestrians of the upcoming construction and closure.
