With the end of summer right around the corner, Avondale Estates will host its annual Labor Day 5K and 1-mile race on Sept. 3, the city announced in a newsletter.

Although the race was originally created to benefit The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association, this year’s proceeds will go to the Emory ALS Center.

The race will take place on Labor Day, which is Monday, Sept. 3, with the one mile race kicking off at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K starting at 9 a.m. On-site registration will open at 7:30 a.m.

The race will begin at Willis Park at the corner of Dartmouth Ave. and Clarendon Place.
