Woodlands Garden to host volunteer project, presentation on upcoming construction
The Woodlands Garden in Decatur will host an open house on Saturday, July 21, to discuss the garden’s upcoming construction plans.
“In late 2015, Woodlands Gardens acquired the adjacent 915 Clairemont Ave property,” the Woodlands Garden website says. “This expanded footprint at the south corner of the site will allow easier visitor access from both Scott Boulevard and Clairemont Avenue. The expansion plans include enhanced signage, an expanded parking area, better access for school buses, and new walkways for pedestrians to reach the Garden’s trails. The design team is carefully orchestrating its plans for the corner property to minimize the number of trees impacted, while still meeting the need for centralized, safe and convenient visitor parking.”
The construction project is supposed to begin later this year.
During the one-hour open house, which will begin at 12:30 p.m., garden staff and volunteers will present updates about the garden’s new master plan and what to expect during construction. They’ll also answer community questions about the project.
Groups or neighborhoods can set up their own open house by calling 404-373-2222 or emailing Kate McAplin at email@example.com.
That same day, the garden will also host a volunteer project from 9 a.m. until noon where volunteers will work on garden maintenance projects, like litter pick-up, weeding, planting and mulching. The project is outdoors, so volunteers should dress for the weather and bring drinking water. Go here to register as a volunteer.
The Woodland Garden is located at 932 Scott Blvd, Decatur, GA 30030.
