Posted by Mary Margaret Stewart August 7, 2018

On August 18, from 4 to 6 p.m., come help kick off with school year with Backpacks & Barbeque in the McKoy Park Pavilion.

The address for the event is 534 McKoy St, Decatur, Georgia 30030.

Backpacks & Barbeque will benefit refugee kids in the Atlanta area. The event is hosted by Betsy Vos Reeves.

Reeves lives with her family in Decatur and is an active participant in Inspire Atlanta, which is a women’s leadership program through the Atlanta Women’s Foundation. Their goal is “raising awareness and money for women and girls living in poverty in the metro area.”

As part of her continued efforts with Inspire Atlanta, she started to host local events to help out people in need, and Backpacks & Barbeque is her current project.

Reeves is working in collaboration with the Atlanta Women’s Foundation and the International Rescue Committee to build 100 backpacks for refugee kids coming to Atlanta.

Interested in enjoying barbeque while helping out your community?

A minimum donation of $20 per adult and supplies to fill backpacks are encouraged. All proceeds will go to the Atlanta Women’s Foundation and the International Refugee Committee.
