BlueTarp Brewing leaving Decatur for Tucker, will share space with High Card Brewing
BlueTarp Brewing, which launched in Decatur in 2012, will be moving to Tucker and will share space with another beer maker, High Card Brewing.
One of the owners of High Card confirmed the news to Decaturish. The story was first reported by Tomorrow’s News Today.
BlueTarp is currently located at 731 E College Ave. Decatur, GA 30030.
The location of both companies will be 2316 Main Street, Suite K, in Tucker.
Derek Needham, one of High Card’s owners, said, “We’ve been looking to open a brewery for awhile. In the mean time we brewed some beer with BlueTarp. In the meantime doing that, [the owner of BlueTarp] was looking at renewing his lease or finding somewhere to go. We found a space in downtown Tucker.”
A message was left with BlueTarp seeking comment.
Needham said the new facility could start producing beer under the BlueTarp label within a few months, but said High Card’s official opening may not occur until February as the company awaits permitting.
High Card has already won some awards for its beers, which include White Queen, a Russian enlightened stout, Aces En Fuego, a double IPA, and Up the Ante, a pale ale.
BlueTarp’s beer menu includes All I Want For My Birthday Is a Big Booty Baltic Porter, Hawking Radiation and That’s What She Saison.
The breweries would be the second and third newest additions to the Tucker brewing scene. Tucker Brewing Company opened during the summer.
