The city is replacing two solar-powered crossing beacons near Agnes Scott starting Tuesday,  Aug. 14.

The work will take approximately one week. Beacons are located at East College Avenue at Agnes Scott College and on South Candler Street at East Dougherty Street.

“The existing beacons were solar-powered and have not proven dependable due to the large amount of shade in the area and other factors,” a notice from the city says. “The new beacons will be hard-wired to permanent power.”

There won’t be any traffic disruptions, but pedestrians should be extra cautious and make sure vehicles have stopped completely before crossing the street, the city says.
