The DeKalb County Division of Family and Children Services office is relocating from its Sams Street location to a new location along Northlake Parkway.

Kwesi Booker, director of the DeKalb County DFCS branch, sent out an email on Monday announcing the move.

“I am pleased to announce that we have acquired an office building for DeKalb DFCS,” Booker wrote. “Our new location will be 2300 Parklake Dr., NE, Atlanta GA 30345.  The office building is located in the Northlake community along Northlake Parkway Northeast.”

Booker said the “highlights” of the new location include:

– Proximity to Northlake Mall, Northlake Tower Festival and Briarcliff at Lavista

– Proximity to restaurants, shopping, hotels, banks and post office nearby

– Easy access to I-285.

– Access to a MARTA service route.

“The building’s interior will be renovated to meet our needs and this process will take many months,” Booker wrote. “Information on planning and preparing for our move will be forthcoming as renovations progress.”

DeKalb County owns the DFCS office’s current location at 178 Sams Street in Decatur. It’s not clear what the county intends to do with it. Decaturish has asked the county about its plans and will update this story when a county spokesperson responds.
