A woman who went on a date with a man who was later murdered may have important clues about the case.

But Atlanta Police haven’t been able to locate her.

According to police, the woman went on a date with Rodrigo Castillo on Thursday, Aug. 2. They went to Leon’s Full Service and Kimball House that night.

On Friday, Aug. 3, at 12:25 a.m., Castillo was found in a vehicle on I-20 westbound at Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. The vehicle was stopped in the right lane of traffic at the exit to Martin Luther King Jr Drive. He was in the driver’s seat and had a gunshot wound to the head. He was transferred to Grady Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police do not think the woman who went on a date with Castillo is involved in the crime, but investigators want to speak to her. According to a police spokesperson, she may be a graduate student at Emory or Georgia State University and may be Colombian.

The date was arranged using an online dating app. Police believe the app was either Bumble or Coffee Meets Bagel.

“We would ask the woman or anyone who believes they may know the woman, to call Atlanta Police Homicide Investigator Young at 404-895-1083 or 404-546-2589 or call the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit at 404-546-4235,” the Police Department spokesperson said.

There will be a candlelight vigil for Castillo on Aug. 10 at 8:45 p.m. The vigil will be held at Caffeinated CrossFit, located at 1875 Mitchell Rd Ste F, Mableton, Georgia 30126. A Go Fund Me page for the man’s family has raised more than $11,500.
