Goats!

This story has been updated.

Southern Sweets in Decatur had some unusual visitors this morning.

They weren’t looking for cakes or pies. They wanted something greener.

Karina Walls, an bakery employee, said a herd of goats hired by a nearby business to eat kudzu wandered onto to the Southern Sweets parking lot area around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11.

“None were hurt,” Walls said. “There were two full-grown males that were kind of like the ring leaders everyone would follow.”

Walls herded the goats back into their enclosure at a nearby business two doors down.

“It’s the first time they’ve come into our parking lot,” she said. “I didn’t want them to get hit by a car.”

Southern Sweets’ landlord, Miriam Benatar, called the county about the four-legged visitors.

“I called Dekalb Animal Control since the Bakery does not need live stock around food,” she said.

Benatar sent over this video of Southern Sweets employees attempting to lead the goats to safety.
