Pine Lake and Stone Mountain will start receiving garbage collection pick up services from the county in the next two years.
DeKalb County Commissioners approved an intergovernmental agreement with the cities at their Sept. 25 meeting.
“Pending approval of their city councils, sanitation service in the city of Pine Lake is scheduled to begin Dec. 1, 2018, and Jan. 1, 2019, for the city of Stone Mountain,” the county says.
DeKalb’s Sanitation Division will collect garbage, recycling, yard trimmings, bulky items and special collections for residents and businesses in these cities. There will be about 400 homes in Pine Lake and more than 2,100 homes in Stone Mountain in the collection area.
