Atlanta Balalaika Society to host 37th annual Russian music and song concert

On Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m., the Atlanta Balalaika Society is hosting “An Evening of Music and Song From Slavic Lands,” a concert put on by their Russian Folk Orchestra.

Held at First Baptist Church in Avondale, located at 47 Covington Road, this will mark the society’s 37th annual concert.

Guest performances will include the Barynya Ensemble from New York, which “performs lively Russian and Gypsy music in many venues in New York and Washington, D.C.,” according to a recent press release.

In addition, Carnegie Hall veteran Elina Karokhina and vocalist Irina Zagornova will be featured performers as well.

Tickets are $15 for adults, and $7 for children 12 or younger.

Attendees can buy tickets ahead of time online via credit card at: www.atlantabalalaika.com. Tickets will also be sold at the door, by cash or check, starting at 6:30 p.m. and until sold out.
