Decatur Police are reporting that there was another accident on South Candler Street on Monday, Oct. 1.

“On Monday, October 1, 2018 at approximately 5:21 p.m., Decatur Police responded to a hit and run accident on South Candler Street near East College Avenue,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “The complainant reported she was traveling southbound on South Candler Street from East College Avenue when a gray vehicle entered the roadway, from a private parking lot, turning left to also travel southbound, and struck her vehicle in the front corner of the driver’s side. The impact led her vehicle to be pushed into the curb causing disabling damage to the front passenger side tire. The gray vehicle failed to stop and continued south on South Candler Street.”

There were no injuries, Ross said.

That’s the third accident in the area of South Candler Street in two weeks.

On Sept. 27, an accident caused by an alleged intoxicated driver on Midway Road at South Candler Street critically injured a Winnona Park Kindergarten student. He later passed away from his injuries. On Sept. 25, an accident happened in the 700 block of South Candler Street. Calm Candler, a group that advocates for safety along the road, said the accident involved a red car slamming into a postal truck that was stopped to deliver mail. The truck was shoved over the sidewalk on the other side of the street. Children were waking home from school at the time.
