With a required recycling bin switch coming up on Dec. 28, the DeKalb County Sanitation Division is hosting the Recycling Roll Cart Exchange Event on Saturday, Oct. 20.

From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., residents can drop by the Sanitation Division’s administration building at 3720 Leroy Scott Drive in Decatur to swap bins.

Current resident recyclers must turn in their 18-gallon bin for a new 35-gallon roll cart, free of charge. There’s also an option of a 65-gallon roll cart, going for a $15 prepaid amount.

For the event itself, there will be a limited number of 500 carts for swapping, which will be divvied up based on the requests that are processed first. If the carts run out the morning of Oct. 20, residents are invited to fill out a subscription form at the event to receive a roll cart “within 10 business days,” according to a recent press release.

Exchange requests for a roll cart can be submitted one of four ways: by mail, online at www.dekalbsanitation.com, at the Sanitation Division’s administration building during operation hours, or via email at: [email protected].

In addition, all participants must fill out a recycling subscription form, which are available online at: www.dekalbsanitation.com, or at the event.

Have any questions? Contact the Sanitation Division by phone, 404-294-2900, or via email, [email protected].
