This Sunday, Oct. 14, the Atlanta Music Education group will host a free Kids Open Mic at the Kavarna coffee shop in Oakhurst.

According to the Facebook event, the yearly event invites kids to sing on-stage to their favorite songs. There will be showtimes at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., with the earlier show for students under 10 years old and the later show for students older than 10 to perform.

Children can sign up to perform at the door when they arrive, but the group recommends arriving early because space is limited. Participants are also encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.

A keyboard, microphones and sound equipment are provided, but students should bring their own instruments otherwise.

Kids who aren’t comfortable performing solo but who want to get up on stage can also participate in a group sing-along. Lyric sheets will be provided for the group songs, which include “The Greatest Show” from “The Greatest Showman,” “I Put a Spell on You” from “Hocus Pocus” and “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
