On Sunday, Dec. 9, from 3 to 8 p.m., everyone is invited to the 26th Annual Avondale Estates Christmas Tour of Homes.
Many Avondale Estates homes are on the National Register of Historic Places and the city is one of the United States’ first planned communities. Some of the homes were built in the 1920’s.
According to a recent press release, the tour will showcase a range of decades, showing off an early 40s bungalow, 50s brick cottages, Mid-century ranches, and a 2016 two-story Craftsman homes.
Each year, close to every Avondale resident is part of these Christmas festivities, whether it’s including their home in the tour, putting decorations up around town, selling goods in the Holiday Market, going on the tour, and more.
Attendees can tour Avondale’s houses in a trolley, which will pick people up at Avondale First Baptist Church. Trolley reservations can be made via email with Margaret Lunsford at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the tour, the Avondale Community Club will house the Holiday Market, open from 12 to 6 p.m. The Holiday Market will host more than 30 vendors and artists selling their work for holiday shopping needs.
Tour tickets go for $15 each and are available at Avondale City Hall, Finders Keepers Furniture, and Garage Door Studio. Ticket prices rise to $20 day-of the event and can be purchased at the Avondale Community Club.
