‘Tis the season for tree lightings, and Avondale Estates, Emory Healthcare and Decatur are each hosting events this year.

The first of the three will be in Avondale on Nov. 26, held at the intersection of Clarendon Avenue and South Avondale Road.

There will be caroling from the Avondale Estates First Baptist church at 6:30 p.m. Then, Avondale’s tree lighting will happen between 6:45 and 7 p.m.

In addition, Santa is making a guest appearance at the event.

Each night of tree lightings at Emory Healthcare will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and include refreshments and live music as well as gingerbread creations.

The “lights on the trees represent and honor loved ones,” according to a recent press release.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, Decatur will continue its tree lighting tradition, this time on the Decatur Square MARTA Plaza. Starting at 7 p.m., attendees can enjoy hot cocoa, “snow,” carols, and a guest appearance by Santa.

In addition to Christmas celebrations, on Dec. 2, there will be a Chanukah celebration starting at 4 p.m.

Held on the Decatur Square, there will be latkes, hot beverages, music and photo opportunities with Mr. Dreidel.
