Decatur Holiday Marketplace and Cafe returning to Clairemont early next month
The annual Decatur Holiday Marketplace and Cafe will return early next month, featuring hundreds of handmade gifts for the holiday season.
Now in its 27th year, the event “offers a local alternative to crowded shopping malls and big box stores,” an event press release says.
This year’s marketplace will take place on Friday, Dec. 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Clairemont Elementary School, located at 155 Erie Avenue.
The marketplace includes work from nearly 100 local and national artists, with items like handmade jewelry, paintings, photography, pottery and more.
In addition, the event will have food and desserts for sale. Friday evening will feature fare from local restaurants who will donate a percentage of the proceeds to Clairemont. On Saturday, the cafe will feature its popular homemade soup along with desserts from local eateries.
Local musicians and carolers will perform throughout the event, too. For those with children, kindergarteners and older kids can participate in free activities provided by Color Wheel Studios. Parents can pre-register online for the activities here, but walk-ins are also welcome on a first-come, first-served basis.
Proceeds from the Decatur Holiday Marketplace and Cafe go directly to support learning for the students of Clairemont Elementary School. For more information, visit the event website here or go to the event Facebook page.
