Pedestrian hit by vehicle while in crosswalk on East Trinity Place, driver cited

Decatur Police say that a woman was hit by a vehicle Friday evening, Nov. 2, while using a crosswalk on East Trinity Place.

Police responded to the call at 9:30 p.m. The incident occurred at East Trinity Place and Church Street, near Twain’s Brewpub and Billiards.

“On Friday, November 2, 2018 at approximately 9:30 p.m. Decatur Police responded to a person struck by a vehicle at East Trinity Place and Church Street,” Lt. Jennifer Ross said. “The pedestrian was walking eastbound on East Trinity Place crossing Church Street in the crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle was traveling westbound on East Trinity Place making a left turn to travel south onto Church Street and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered bruises to her knees. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian and suspended registration.”

A couple of employees at Twain’s witnessed the incident and provided police with statements, the owners said.
