Avondale Estates has hired a new Deputy City Manager.

The city announced the hiring of Paul Hanebuth who was previously the Finance Director in Talladega, Ala. The current City Manager, Patrick Bryant, was the city manager in Talladega before the City Commission hired him to manage the day-to-day operations of City Government.

Hanebuth will also serve as Finance Director. He replaces the previous Deputy City Manager Ken Turner who retired last month.

The City of Avondale Estates welcomed Paul Hanebuth Tuesday as the new Deputy City Manager/Finance Director. The position was most recently held by Ken Turner, who announced his retirement in December.

“Avondale Estates is attractive to me as a dynamic community within an exciting metropolitan area in a forward looking state,” he said of the opportunity.

Hanebuth, who recently served as Finance Director for the City of Talladega in Alabama, holds a both a Bachelor degree and an MBA from the University of South Alabama. Prior to his position in Talladega, he was the Director of Music Ministries for the Catholic Archdiocese of Mobile at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. In his free time, he enjoys reading and gardening, as well as playing and listening to music.

He has moved to Avondale Estates from Oxford, Ala. where his wife, Laura, is currently living and working at University of Alabama Birmingham. They have three children, including a daughter, Jane, who is currently working as an emergency medical technician and is on track to graduate this spring from Beloit College; a son, Will, in the 10th grade at the Alabama School of Fine Arts; and Michael, who is in the 8th grade and was selected as a trumpeter in the Alabama All-State Band.
