College Heights opens registration for Pre-K lottery on Feb. 1 for 2019-2020 school year
City of Decatur’s College Heights preschool registration will open on Feb. 1 for the 2019-2020 school year.
Known as the Pre-K lottery, all pieces of the application must be submitted by Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. to be included in the drawing. In addition, children must be 4 years old before or on Sept. 1.
The first step in the application process is to complete the form found at this link:
If a parent or guardian needs help with the online application, they can visit the Central Office at 125 Electric Avenue to use computers with help from City of Decatur staff.
After filling out the online application, bring the following documents to College Heights on a Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday in February, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., as stated in a recent press release.
– Proof of Residency (lease, deed, payment/coupon book, property tax or settlement statement and a current utility
– Birth Certificate (certified original)
– Immunization (Form 3231)
– Vision, Hearing, Dental, and Nutrition (Form 3300)
– Student’s Social Security Card
– Picture ID of guardian
The lottery will be conducted electronically on March 6.
For families on the wait list, they will be notified by phone on March 6. For families who are offered a Pre-K spot, they will get a letter of confirmation in the mail by March 22.
Families that are given a spot in the Pre-K lottery for 2019-2020 can register for After School Program (ASP) beginning on March 11 at College Heights. A fee of $50 is required at the time of registration.
Another lottery will take place in the College Heights school library on March 29 at noon for open (ASP) spots.
In addition, families who are enrolled this year with either College Heights or the Frasier Center will receive registration packets for College Heights Pre-K and ASP on Jan. 31 with their children.
The deadline for completed forms for Pre-K and ASP are due by 3 p.m. on Feb. 28 as well to ensure a spot for 2019-2020.
