Kelly’s Market on East Howard Avenue in Decatur is open for business.

The business replaces Decatur Market, which opened last February and abruptly closed a few months later. The owners are Sean Crotty and his wife Tauna Jecmen. The address is 308 East Howard Avenue.

“We are residents of the neighborhood and want to make Kelly’s a true local market,” Crotty said.

The store is named after Crotty’s grandfather, Vincent Kelly, who operated who operated  ‘Kelly’s Market’ in Culver City, Calif. in the 1960s.

“It was a neighborhood market, but also catered to people working at nearby Desilu Studios,” Crotty said.

The store offers produce, meat, baked goods, flowers, snacks, beer and wine.

“We are working to source as many local products as possible and offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options,” Crotty said. “Our deli is open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options are available.”

The business can sell alcohol both on premise and off premise and will soon offer beer and wine by the glass.

“Our beer and wine clubs will start in February and we will be publishing a calendar for tastings and other events,” Crotty said.

The business has free wi-fi, comfortable seating and is dog friendly. People are invited to “hang out,” Crotty said.

“We have hired several people from former market, including our general manager, Daisy Nagel,” he said.
