On Friday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m., Mary-Pat Hector will give the address at Agnes Scott College’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation.

Among many titles, 20-year-old Hector is a youth activist and motivational speaker. She’s the founder and spokesperson for Youth in Action as well as the National Youth Director for the National Action Network, which is one of the United States’ biggest civil rights organizations, according to a recent press release.

“The recipient of numerous awards and national recognition, Hector made a commitment at a young age to shed light on youth issues affecting her generation,” a recent press release from the college says. “Hector became the youngest playwright and director to put on an all youth sold out production for her play entitled, East Street Ain’t Easy. In 2017, she was the youngest woman and person of color in the state of Georgia to run for public office.”

The convocation will be held at Agnes Scott’s Gaines Chapel in Presser Hall, located at 141 E. College Avenue in Decatur.
