A water main break in Oakhurst affected service to residents there on Thursday morning, Jan. 31.

DeKalb County Watershed Management said crews responded to a 6 inch main break on South McDonough Street. The city of Decatur reports that the main break has been fixed and said water pressure would be restored soon.

A reader told Decaturish on Thursday morning, Jan. 31, that “Folks who live near South McDonough at Lenore Street, Adams Street (near McCoy Park/College Heights) and McCoy Street woke up to no water.”

The county says 40 people were affected by the outage.

“Crews were able to make a repair using a clamp,” a county spokesperson said.

City Schools of Decatur Superintendent David Dude said the water main break affected pressure at College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center.

CSD had plans to close College Heights early if the break continued throughout the day, but that is no longer necessary.
