Clarkston Community Health Center was recently awarded with the Community Health Grant, $4,940 that will go to fund their project, “Women’s Breast Health Initiative.”

The Community Health Grant is funded by the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance. This additional money will give the Women’s Breast Health Initiative the resources to provide mammograms for 100 women.

The Women’s Breast Health Initiative is working to lower breast cancer mortality in DeKalb County for refugee, immigrant, and uninsured women, targeting women who are 40 years old and older.

“Our Community Health Grants typically fill a vital need in the community where you have people who otherwise would fall through the cracks and wouldn’t have access to these health services,” Assistant Director of the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance, Kara Sinkule said. “You have people who come in for mammograms who might not have ever had a mammogram, and they might be well over 40 years old.”
